It’s been a long tough road over the last four years. From playing Irish pubs to busking on the street, new members joining and finally an offer to release a record from Vivid Sound. Today, however, in a few strokes of the pen Blacko and Martin finally signed a deal to license our new mini-album “Funky Disco Hardcore” in Japan.
It will be released here on the 3rd of November with launch party details to follow. We’re incredibly proud of the bands achievements so far and have our fingers crossed for the success of this release.
We haven’t done many shows this year and our most recent was cut in half because of a visit from the boys in blue. So we’re gonna put it all into this one. Looking forward to seeing you there!!

We scheduled the last of the vocals to be done at Blacko’s house from noon. It was a sunny morning and the Yamate Dori seemed less crowded than it usually was. We knew that Mark could only help us record for a short while so with great speed we set out to record the final vocals….which consisted of one track. Upon my arrival at the rec pad I was greeted by no one less than Quasimodo himself, complete with surgical mask. At that point Blacko borrowed my bike and went off to the dentist to do something about the orange that had taken up residency inside his cheek, leaving me with the drive and the tracks to pass to Mark. Needless to say the recording session went well and another old song has been born again. Blacko, for fear of showing all his true radio face, still hides behind the mask
It was a sunny morning in Nakano and Katsuya had not been home in three days or so. His midnight ramblings had led him to many a low lit club in the various fashion districts of Tokyo. None the less, Katsuya found his way to our makeshift studio just as Blacko was arriving to administer the recording session. After one track Katsuya found his way to the local Sunkus for some liquid inspiration and proceeded to rip a hole in the tracks we had prepared. Poetry in motion.
They say the violin is the closest instrument to a human voice. If that’s the case, we got some great voices down the other day and the Funky Disco Hardcore is coming together nicely. Tomorrow, bright and early (from midday that is) the human voices. No pressure.
Here’s Mark from Offshore Recordings doing his thing
Hi folks, since it’s all kicking off around JMC recently we’ve put together a new web page for yiz…the events calendar should be filing up pretty soon, and will try and message yiz more than we have up until now.
In the meantime why don’t you sign up for our newsletter (over on the right)
